How The TapXR Works
Decoding 100+ Different Finger Gestures in Real Time
The TapXR uses a combination of motion and optical sensors for hand and finger tracking, and to detect and classify finger taps and other gestures. When a finger or fingers touch a surface, a ‘tap event’ is initiated, and the sensor data is sent to an embedded neural processor, which determines which of the fingers have made contact. This information is then formatted for transmission, and sent via Bluetooth to the paired device.
How To Tap Like a Pro
Start tapping the right way from the get go!
Following these tips will tremendously increases your tapping accuracy:
- Keep your fingers neutral and curved, raise your wrist and let it fall gently, allowing your fingers to make contact with the tapping surface.
- Don't splay your fingers.
- Don't bunch your fingers all together.
- Don't stick out the fingers that are not tapping, let them rest but avoid their contact with the tapping surface.
A Breakthrough In User Interaction
1
Tap your fingers on any surface
Tap your leg, arm, couch, desk, or any other surface that you can think of. This will let TapXR know you are sending a command.
2
TapXR senses that a tap has occurred
Using a combination of optical and mechanical sensors, the TapXR is able to register when you are tapping.
3
The Tap AI registers the tap as an HID command
After a tap occurs, the TapXR AI determines what is being tapped and sends the associated command to your bluetooth device.
4
The command is transmitted to the paired device via Bluetooth
All the tap magic happens in real time, with virtually no latency, so all you see is your commands as they happen.
Tapping your fingers is an intuitive, non fatiguing operation that you can easily perform on any surface, in any hand orientation and in every environment.
Unlike other input methods, Tapping can be used exactly the same way across all of your digital devices.

The Tap Alphabet
Every finger combination represents a different input.
Unlike QWERTY keyboards, where the user is expected to memorize the keyboard layout (most people end up forever hunting and picking keys on the board!), Tapping trains your muscle memory that each finger combination transmits a different key, macro, or combinations of keys.
In order to support larger sets of commands we have made it so TapXR can distinguish between single taps, double taps enabling the ultimate flexibility.
Within roughly 10 hours of practice most people report that Tapping becomes second nature, like riding a bike!
